Please note new rule for 2022, that all rabbits must be insured to stay with us (have pet insurance). We no longer take single bunnies due to high instances of single rabbits developing gut stasis. This is due to rabbits’ tendency to lose appetite when scared, which unfortunately includes new environments. Rabbits are social animals and when in a pair or group tend to feel safer, or compete for food, thereby being much less likely to develop gut stasis. (We are a small business and could no longer afford the time needed with vet trips for single buns. We can however recommend local, good, places who take single bunnies and are bigger with more time for such care.

Please be aware that by staying with us you agree to the following T's and C's.

Terms and conditions of stay

1.     A contract will be deemed active once a booking has been confirmed. Accommodation will be immediately secured for your pet.

2.     Fees are chargeable by the day including pick up and drop off days. (This is different from human hotels where the charge is ‘per night’. This is industry standard becuase unlike human hotels we can’t have two guests in the same room in one day, to allow for full steam cleaning and disinfecting).

3.     We understand sometimes things come up and cancellations may occur, we do ask for 72 hours notice or you will incur a fee of 25% the of the total price of the stay.  In the case of a no show the full amount may be charged.  So please get in touch if you have any problems or need to change plans. In the case of long term stays (over 2 weeks) we may ask for full payment upfront without promise of cancellation. This is due to the potential damage to a business or our size should a whole space be cancelled last minute without chance to fill at peak times.

4.     Drop off and pick up is by appointment only, if you are late or cannot make the appointment a new time may be arranged pending our personal availability- it may result in a booking being cancelled. In the case we do you will be liable for any extra charges.

5.     If your pet needs to be separated from its companion due to fighting, you will be liable for the boarding fee of the second hutch, payable on return.

6.     Rabbits must have relevant vaccinations including, Myxomatosis and RHVD, and RHVD2 Plus. By booking with us you acknowledge your animal is in good health and is up to date on vaccinations.

7.     Any existing medical conditions must be discussed prior to the stay of your pet, each case will be taken into account.  If your pet does have any medical problems, illnesses or injuries, please provide the details of their condition and any treatment/medication that is required. Due to our size we tend not to take rabbits with extra medical needs though will consider it with an extra charge. All will be clearly discussed and agreed to prior to booking.

8.     If your pet does become ill whilst staying with The Burrows we will act as the guardian of your pet and make all decisions based on the best interest of the animal. Whilst we will endeavour to contact you, we will not waste time or seek your permission before seeking medical attention. You will be liable for any treatment costs, payable upon your return to either a) the vet or b) to us if we have been asked to cover the cost. We urge all owners to be aware that ‘Gut Stasis’ in rabbits can be caused by new surroundings, fear, and surprise - therefore boarding facilities regularly keep an eye out for this. Please read up on gut stasis if you are unaware of it, so that you understand why quick action must be taken in the event of a pet refusing food.

9.     In the unlikely event your pet should pass away whilst at The Burrows we accept no liability.  All pet owners must accept that accident, injury, illness, death, theft, public liability, and all other insurances for the pet owner and their animal whilst visiting and boarding with us, they are the responsibility of the pet owner. In the unlikely event of death, the vet may have time-sensitive questions regarding options of autopsy and cremation - namely whether you wish to have an autopsy or whether you wish for a basic or expensive recepticle for cremation. In the case that our email or the vet’s call cannot reach you we will make such decisions and - because it is at your expense - we will opt for the most affordable options on your behalf.

10. The Burrows cannot be held responsible for fleas/mites as these can be present in hay and bedding supplies. We do our utmost to prevent any such problems.

11. The Burrows will take no responsibility of any pet pregnancy as all our animals are kept separate unless otherwise stated by you.

12. Unlike dog and cat kennels, small animal boarding does not require a licence or have the same rules and regulations. All animals are left at their owners risk.

13. Please tell us if you wish for your pet NOT to be used on social media or in our literature.  By staying with us your pet is giving consent to be used as part of our publicity so please tell us if they are camera shy, or you wish for them to remain anonymous.

14. in the event that the met office issue an extreme weather warning during your stay we may ask for an additional contribution to cover any costs.
